What is pickling and what are its benefits?

Pickling is an ancient preservation method used in cultures across the globe. It's a process of preserving fresh fruit or vegetables by submerging them in a solution of salt, water, and other spices. The result is tasty and crunchy treats that you can enjoy year-round! Pickling is also great for your health since the production of probiotics helps create beneficial bacteria within our own gut microbiome. Eating fermented food can aid digestion, improve nutrient absorption and contribute to overall gut health.

So why not give this age-old technique a try and add some pickled goodies to your diet?

The White One - £8.00

Classic White Sauerkraut – available for purchase online and shipped direct to your door. The White One is a throwback to a classic sauerkraut and the closest thing we do to "plain". White cabbage is the star here, with the distinct flavours of horseradish & dill making it a delicious & versatile ferment. It adds tang to salads, compliments cheeses and is the perfect partner to oily fish, sausages or beef.

The Purple One - £8.00

The Purple One is a bit of an all rounder. It works just as well with your eggs, smoked salmon & smashed avocado for brekky as it does with rich, hearty red meats like lamb, venison and even sausages. Red cabbage, beetroot and caraway give it a deeper, earthier yet versatile flavour.

The Yellow One - £8.00

The Yellow One is inspired by our Aussie heritage – sweet pineapple reminds us of summers at the beach and the zing of ginger and superfood boost provided by turmeric give The Yellow One its unique colour and flavour. It works really well in salads, with chicken, fish, Asian and spicy dishes. Ingredients : White cabbage, pineapple, fresh ginger, pink Himalayan rock salt.

The Red One - £8.50

The Red One is a bit different, it’s our take on Kimchi – lots of fresh Chinese cabbage, mooli, carrot, spring onion, garlic and chilli, naturally fermented with beautiful colour and just the right amount of heat. It goes with just about anything, but try it with meat, chicken, fish, salads or with other spicy foods. Ingredients : Chinese cabbage, mooli, carrot, fresh ginger, spring onion, garlic, fresh red chilli, pink Himalayan rock salt, Korean red pepper powder.

The Hot Red One - £8.50

You asked, we listened. The Hot Red One came about after repeated demand for a hotter version of our best-selling Kimchi. We've used the same trusted recipe, but used Thai Birdseye chillies for an extra heat kick. Not for the faint of heart.
